As that old movie first brought together Frankensteins Monster, the Wolf Man and Dracula, Meet the Fockers stars not only Robert De Niro but also Dustin Hoffman. But wait, theres more. It also stars Barbra Streisand in her first movie since 1996. De Niro and Hoffman have worked together before (in the little-remembered Sleepers and the more respectable Wag the Dog), but neither have appeared with Streisand until now. For long-time moviegoers, it takes a while to get over the pleasant surprise of seeing them all together in one movie. Plus Ben Stiller, Blythe Danner and Teri Polo, who also star in this belated sequel to Meet the Parents. (2000). So when it comes to reacting to the constantly fluctuating power needs of today's loudspeakers, an A/V receiver has to be very smart indeed. Most A/V receivers fail the test and you hear distortion. NAD's dual-rail power supply knows when your speakers need extra help to deliver clean, undistorted sound. The result is honor roll performance for your movies and music. "Aperion's engineers perfected their satellite/subwoofer system years ago, and now with the new Intimus 522D-PT, they've set their sights on something bigger: a powered tower. Say what? The tower features a built-in 150-watt amplifier for its 8-inch woofer, effectively lightening the load on your receiver. The result is a big-speaker sound that rivals that of high-end speakers costing double the 522D-PT's $599 ($1,198 a pair) factory-direct price. Because of the inherent stiffness, low mass and self-damping properties found in aluminum, these advanced drivers deliver crisp, clear sound with the immediacy and accuracy needed to deliver the realism of today's high-definition music and movies. Computer optimized crossover networks allow smooth integration between drivers while increasing power handling and minimizing distortion. Meet the Parents Together with the earlier 'Analyze This,' 'Meet the Parents' went a long way in establishing Robert De Niro, of all people, as a comic actor. Actually, if you watch both films closely, he's not doing comedy performances at all, but playing his roles completely straight. It's the circumstances that are comic -- not that De Niro doesn't get his share of laughs. In this case, the circumstances derive from a little-known 1992 movie of the same title directed, co-written by and starring Greg Glienna. Yes, 'Meet the Parents' is a remake, scripted by Jim Herzfeld and John Hamburg and directed by Jay Roach, who helmed both "Austin Powers" movies. The script is very good, particularly in terms of structure -- it builds very well to a climax that consists of two guys in a room talking, but which is emotionally satisfying on a surprisingly warm level. Somehow, "Zoolander" escapes this curse with surprising zest. Director/co-scripter/star Ben Stiller has a clear handle on the material, an ear for the absurd and an unexpected sweetness that make his film a lot of fun. Stillers Derek Zoolander is a top male model who may not be the hottest commodity in town just now that would be his competition, Hansel (Owen Wilson) but he certainly takes the prize as the dumbest bunny in the hutch. Dereks dimness is precisely why hes hired by evil designer Mogatu (Will Ferrell). Mogatu and his sweatshop-owner cronies have hatched a nefarious scheme to brainwash Derek into assassinating the childrens rights-promoting Prime Minister of Malaysia at an upcoming fashion show.
