2005 Audio-Video Predictions

With my Howard Stern to Sirius prediction (on 2/27/04) making me look like
Jerry The Greek, I am back with some more insight as to what is likely to
happen in 2005 in the world of audio/video and home theater.

Consumers Will Be Chomping at the Bit To Buy HDTV on a Disc:
2005 will see one (or both) of the two HDTV formats work its way into the hands
of consumers. I am not ready to predict if Blu-Ray or HD-DVD will win out at
this early point, but I can say with 100 percent certainty that Hollywood is
going to jump on board with one or both of these formats so that they can sell
all of their movie titles all over again...

PurePower: It's like plugging into Niagara Falls

The only way to ensure your A/V system meets spec and is protected at all times
is to de-couple it from the local utility power with a PurePower AC
Regenerator. Conventional power conditioners merely filter the noise, protect
against surges, and in some cases regulate voltage.

PurePower connects you to a new, stable power source, off the power grid, as
though you were hooked up to the cleanest power station in North America. Even
if the inbound voltage is zero, PurePower keeps your system operating perfectly
with its built-in back-up battery system. Perfect voltage sinewave, total
freedom from line noise, distortion, surges, and sags.

What if you could make a High Definition Television that was half the price of
a 61 Plasma that could "hang-on-the-wall?"

And what if it was completely self-contained with a dual PIP tuner, plenty of
inputs (including HDMI)? What if you could get all this and more with a 61 DLP
(Digital Light Processing) that can hang-on-a-wall (with a depth of only 6.85)?

Unheard of? Not any more. Come see for yourself the new InFocus 61md10.

Now on display at Evolution Audio & Video in lovely Agoura Hills, CA. Call

Save $100 on Xhifi's XDC-1 Desktop Audio System

The problem with virtually all multi-media speaker systems is that they were
designed to hit a price point, not high performance. Cheap plastic enclosures,
the least expensive drivers and electronics, and tiny little subs cannot
possibly satisfy an audio literate consumer.

Xhifi is the first company to design and manufacture a truly high end desktop
system. The XDC-1 features newly developed ultra low-mass Radial Ribbon driver
technology for a stunning, 3 dimensional soundfield. Imaging is precise, with
no "sweet-spot" issues. The sub enclosure is finished in rich European
Cherrywood.

>From Nov 15 to Jan 15 you can save $100 on the system price with Xhifi's
>Factory Mail-In Rebate. If you've been waiting for the right moment to step up
>to the best desktop sound money can buy, now's the time.

AVRev.com Music Reviews

The Music - Welcome to the North CD

You remember the scene in This is Spinal Tap, where Christopher Guests Nigel
Tufnel character shows us an amp that goes up to 11, on a scale of 1-10? The
whole band The Music is set at 11. Now I dont know about you, but that sounds
like a good thing to me theres some danger, certainly. Anything you hear at
that level better be worth hearing loud. Anything that much in your face better
look beautiful at really close range, because its screaming to be closely
examined.
