AVRev.com Lead Story

Saving VOOM - Dolan Offers To Step In With $400 Million?

Everyone who follows the VOOM story knows that Cablevision chairman Charles
Dolan looks at the HDTV satellite service as his own pet project. Now Dolan
reportedly is really putting his money where his mouth is. Dolan told FCC
officials that he will make a $400,000,000 personal commitment to save the
struggling satellite provider and Cablevision has plans to raise even more
money to keep the project afloat. The catch is that Dolan wants the FCC to nix
the deal that would have sold VOOMs satellites to Dish Network.

HDTV today is a concept that mainstream America understands and wants, yet most
consumers have yet to convert over to the vastly improved television system.
The Consumer Electronics Association reports HDTV-ready sets are selling at the
rate of more than one million per month. VOOMs draw to consumers is the amount
of HDTV programming they offer when HDTV content can be hard to come by for
those who own sets and HD receivers. With more capital, VOOM will be afforded
the chance to offer improved equipment, possibly the addition of the TiVo
service for the DVRs, local network channels and more to their consumers.

Introducing the completely redesigned RBH MC Series Mark II

Designed for both audio and home theater enthusiasts, the MC Series features
RBH's proprietary aluminum cone technology; the same technology in their
flagship products. Because of the inherent stiffness, low mass and self-damping
properties found in aluminum, these advanced drivers deliver crisp, clear sound
with the immediacy and accuracy needed to deliver the realism of today's
high-definition music and movies.

Computer optimized crossover networks allow smooth integration between drivers
while increasing power handling and minimizing distortion.

AVRev.com Music Reviews

Ministry - Animositisomina DualDisc

Ministry gives us Animositisomina, which continues pretty much right along
where you thought Ministry was headed. Using guttural vocals and pounding
guitars with cold-cocked hooks, the self-proclaimed forefathers of industrial
metal, Paul Barker and Al Jourgensen, have continued here to try to capitalize
on their reputation for musical and technological fury. While Ministry clearly
have their place in the industrial metal post New Wave pantheon, their music
remains largely inaccessible to large audiences and sounds to a great extent
like something produced by crazy people who raided a poorly-stocked music store.
