I'm sorry our software is " VERY frustrating" 
I have no idea why Windows is blocking the download, you'll have to disable 
whatever tool does that - this isn't something that we control.
Every announcement of Subsurface contains a link to our User Forum - not sure 
why you think that's hard to find.
As to why the Cobalt 2 isn't recognized anymore, also hard to guess without 
more information. Did this work with 4.7.6 in the past? If yes, then this isn't 
caused by Subsurface. If it was with a previous version of Subsurface, then 
consider going back to that version to see if it still works.
