Hi Caroline, You might want to try setting the gnome proxy server settings as I believe (this theory is untested) xulrunner and telepathy should recognise those settings. you can get that by running gnome-network-properties which is part of the control-center package (no idea off hand if that is in SoaS by default), but you can also set it using the command line but I'm not sure how off hand.
