Yes. The python activity code forks a shell script executing the
Squeak VM binary that resumes etoys.image, which is a snapshot of
live objects frozen in the middle of execution.
Anyway I don't know what are the plans for etoys, I'm just looking
to the current code.
We might make etoys a native activity in the future, but that's not
top-priority for now.
