Jakob, thank you for your kind answer. Sadly, I was analyzing an ancient version of SUMO that did not have that nice feature you wrote for eased lane changes. I surely will check it out and do some test drives, pun intended.

I don't know whether that could relate to the fact your institution seems to have closed your earlier public portal sumo-sim.org.
