such a document does not yet exist. However, at
http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/SUMO_User_Documentation#Model_details there are
details on special aspects of the life cycle. I would prefer to keep the
details in these pages but would not mind if you added a general life-cycle
outline that links to the appropriate pages.

To answer the question on how to best interfere, you will need to elaborate
on the non-standard behavior you which to achieve.
