On the 13 december 1972, 25 years ago, the "Commission des cadrans 
solaires" of the "Socie'te' Astronomique de France" was officialy set up. 
Purpose of the Commission was to gather sundials amateurs in order to exchange 
ideas, methods,... and also to put up  a census of the french gnomonic heritage.
        Since then many other societies of sundials enthusiasts were born in 
Europe and throughout the world. 
        In 1997 the "Commission des cadrans solaires" will celebrate a quarter 
of century of existence. On the week-end of 18 and 19 october an international 
meeting will take place in Paris. All sundials amateurs, french and foreign, 
are invited to present and introduce their societies, publications, works, ....
        Saturday 18 will be devoted to introductions and presentations; on 
sunday we shall visit the Paris sundials. On the saturday's evening a 
"bateau-mouche" party is forecast. 
        All expenses regarding travel , lunch, dinner and accomodation are left 
to the attendants.
        All presentations will be in french. Subjects with a summary have to be 
sent as soon as possible on disquettes (PC or MAC) or on paper . They will be 
submitted to the approval of the organization comitee. Presentations can use 
slides, video or transparencies.
        A formal invitation letter will be sent by the beginning of september, 
with the program of the week-end.

        Reserve  right now the dates of 18 and 19 october. We expect many of 
you  will be able to join us and that all the sundials amateurs meet together 
to celebrate this event.
