Thanks to everyone for helping me figure out all the lines and angles for my first dial. The paper working model I made works great. I've included hour lines, summer and winter solstices, equinox, and since I plan on giving it as a wedding gift, I also included a line tracing the sun's path on their wedding day. Now I must decide what shape the dial base will take...either square or round I suppose. My next challenge is transfering all my lines from my working paper model to wood for a finished dial. I am thinking of simply tracing the lines to the wood then either burning them in with a wood burner or some how carve them in using a router. Either way it seems like a big task. How have others transfered paper line drawings to the finished dial? Thanks. --
