It also is a report of the excavations in 1980/1981 done by Buchner.
Have in mind that the picture in his book, which have been published in
several magazins and so on, have the wrong lines for the "daylight
triangle".
Buchner drew curved lines, but they must be straight.

I am written a italian book on this subject:
"Storia dell'Obelisco e dell'orologio solare di Augusto in Campo Marzio",
Roccasecca 1996.
In my book I report all the history of Augustus' sundial, from antiquity to
today. Also the Buchners' escavation questions. My book describe this
subject principally about his history and recostruction of his escavations
in XVI-XVIIIth century, with many sentence unknowed, and emendations of
Plinius' book "Historia Naturalis".
I think that Augustus' sundial was a very large sundials with declination
Sun linees. Also Athanasius Kircherii, in XVIIIth century, was point out a
scketch with declination linees. This sketch is visible in my book.
