The best explanation I've heard of the
shortening of time as we age is this: When we are born, each moment is as
an eternity. In fact, those first moments are all that we have perceived
and know out of the womb. As time progresses, a whole year may be half of
our complete life, thus doubling our awareness. Most experiences and
knowledge are new and are added to our perception of who and where we are.
As we become older, more and more of our experience is repetition, much of it
being filtered out. Near our end, a whole year may become as short as
1/100 of our existence and appears as such. It is possible that our beings
are reconstituted over and over again in different worlds; and then, each
lifetime may become a short movie in our progressive understanding of this
infinite universe!!
