I'm afraid I'm only just catching up with this one, but I must say
the late Mrs. Alfred Gatty would be terribly disappointed that nobody, so
far as I know, has included the motto in their list. As that good lady put
the matter, whereas the gnomon, dail etc. form the body of the sundial,
the motto is its spirit. I count only the sunny hours!
