Hi Bob and all,

In my last email I made the comment:
>
>I would have thought that the globe would have been locked into a position so
>that it would be in the same position as real earth (so that local longitude
>would be at the top).

Would the following support this?

On the plaque it indicates that the sundial can be used to "IT DEPICTS THE
PATH OF THE SUN FOR EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR". And directions are given on how
to do this "MOVE HOUR ANGLE FROM SUNRISE AND SUNSET_THIS REPRESENTS SUN'S
PATH FOR THAT PARTICULAR DATE".

The only way the sun's path can be traced correctly on the globe is when
the local longitude of the globe is at the top.

Note: As there are no directions on rotating and setting the globe to local
longitude. Would this indicate that the globe was fixed?

Roderick Wall.
