I, for one, would be interested in how you finish them :-) I've tried various types of regular wood shellac and varnish but the automotive clearcoat is an idea that I hadn't thought of. I really don't have the tools for working in metal or stone but woodworking I can handle along with woodburning and small relief carving. I've made several but have usually stayed with the portable dials since I didn't want to leave them outside full time. I have designed the layout for some vertical and horizontal dials that I'd love to place around the homestead if I knew they wouldn't self destruct in our harsh winters of Midwest America!
