a particular computer operating system to be fully functional (not
counting the included dialing software, of course)?

Hi Mark,
Speaking for myself -- I'm using an iMac (333MHz PowerPC G3 CPU,
running System 8.6), and almost all of the Repository CD is
accessible. In general, if you have Acrobat Reader 4.0 (for the
Macintosh) you can enjoy any of the PDF files. The patent files need
to be opened individually, not through the patent index, but are
otherwise complete. Of course, for PC specific files (such as EXE)
you need a PC.
I have a complete set of Compendium back issues, both printed and
digital (see note below), but having all of the issues together and
cross-linked is such a great convenience! And then there is the
Glossary, the Bibliography, Fred's Sciatheric Notes, etc. This CD is
a marvelous addition to any dialist's library. I copied the entire
CD onto my hard drive and refer to it regularly. Fred has done us a
great service by making this CD available.
Mark, I greatly enjoyed meeting you at the San Francisco NASS 2000 conference.
Best wishes,
Mac Oglesby
NOTE: digital issues of The Compendium prior to the recent changeover
to PDF format require a PC. The PDF files (beginning with March
2000) work just fine on my iMac (except, of course, for the software
and other PC specific files).
