A nice distinction in clear need of definition!

Perhaps a 'nondial' is something which occupies the typical site of a sundial 
but could not be re-arranged in any way to make it functional whereas an 
'undial' could be a dial which could work if displaced in latitude or 
orientation or by having an informed adjustment made to its delineation or 
turning the gnomon through 180°* etc.

*  For examples of the latter consult the National Trust!!  I accidentally 
wrote 90° (before correction).....and that would have got us into a right 
tangle!!

P.S.  Now I think I recall where I first encountered 'undial' Sarah!  ;-)
