For NASS members who received the digital
version on disk:
The digital edition of The Compendium has been a
popular and integral option of NASS membership for the last 7 years. The
digital edition is now available on floppy disk and by email. (The 'email'
distribution is actually an email notification of a website that allows you to
download the issue at your convenience.)
However, it is becoming increasingly difficult
to deliver the disk version. The December issue requires 3MB - barely
fitting on 2 specially formatted floppy disks. And even that requires that
the issue's photos be reproduced at a fairly low resolution. A more
acceptable resolution increases the size of this issue to 7.1MB (in the email
version) - too large for efficient delivery on floppies.
After some consideration of this situation, the
NASS Board has decided that we will no longer offer the floppy disk
option. Instead, we will replace it with an option to have each issue
delivered on a CD. The cost of this CD option will be the same as the
current disk option. And of course the print and email delivery options
are still available as before.
For those of you who will soon be receiving a
renewal notice form, please note that the disk option must be replaced by a CD
option (several of the forms were printed before this change could be
noted).
If you are currently a subscriber to the floppy
disk option, please note that your March issue will be sent to you on CD unless
I receive an email or letter from you electing to remain with the floppy disk
option. If you prefer to finish your
current disk subscription without change and notify us to that effect, NASS will
honor your choice - but no renewals for the floppy disk version will be
accepted.
