Good question.  I am dealing with a similar adhesive problem.  My suggestion 
is to use a glue which stays pliable.  Examples would be Mirror Mastic (which 
holds glass to a variety of substrates, all with different thermal expansion 
coefficients), polyurethane glue, or "goop", a silicon bonds-everything type 
glue.  Let me know what you finally come up with.
