Greetings fellow dialists, May I share this extract from an email sent me by a recently discovered cousin of mine in New Zealand. He had learnt of my interest in dials.
Quote: Am I correct in assuming that a sun dial made in England would be round the wrong way in New Zealand? I know that some early buildings designed in England and built here in New Zealand had the windows on the wrong side and as a consequence are very gloomy. Unquote. The wrong way round buildings remind me of the sundial still to be seen on a church in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The dial had been removed, I think in the last century, from a church in England and set up, in a spirit of hope, in Cape Province. Some hope. Frank 55N 1W -- Frank Evans
