Warren, I'm not exactly sure what you have in mind. You seem to be confusing the equant dial face with the Oudemans' curve layout. They are not compatible. If we stick to the equant dial - part of my talk at the conference was pointing out that a third variable could be used to modify the look of the curve - but it was not the starting lines. A full explanation will appear in The Compendium.
