I have been watching the adhesive thread for some time, and tend to agree with John about the merits of silicone. 
 
The best that we have found to use in our structural architectural applications (built to last) is Dow Corning 795.  It can be had in a multitude of colours, but we use black, because when tooled it leaves a nice crisp line that does not yellow with age (obviously).  It is extremely aggressive and has documented structural characteristics available from Dow Corning.
