Hello All,

While I really treasure the intellectual discourse that predominates the discussion (most of the time) on the Sundial List, I do appreciate the occasional announcement of a new dial for sale.  Since we are presumably engaged in developing "real" dials, as opposed to the more commonly encountered non-dials, I see the announcement of a completed design to be as important as the discussion of theory along the way.  I like to see what the rest of you are up to, and I especially like to see good ideas manifested...whether they are for sale or not.

A good example of the kind of  "commercial" announcement I would accept is the recent posting by Bill Gottesman announcing his focussing dial.  I really enjoyed seeing that dial, and I personally didn't mind the way that it was respectfully reported to the list with a link for more information.

I think that there is a naturally limiting factor involved with any commercial announcements as well...which is to say that the submission had better be technically correct and well executed...to be worthy of submission to this intellectual group.  That implied standard promotes excellence in my view - I would personally post only my best work.
