Hi Frank and all,

Programmable calculators got me started in the design of sundials. Twenty
years ago I wrote a couple of programs for sundial design for TI 59
programmable calculators. These programs were distributed via the TI
"Professional Program Exchange" (PPX 59). The programs calculated the design
parameters for horizontal and vertical declining dials and used the print
code to output a table of hour angles vs. time. As I confessed earlier I got
stalled on reclining dials, but this is covered in the TI book "Sourcebook
for Programmable Calculators"

I also wrote a BASIC program for sundial design for the Timex Sinclair
ZX1000. Remember those four chip wonders?

In my desk drawer, beside the two slide rules, are four pocket calculators
and two calculator watches, all with dead batteries. I continue to use a
cheap little solar powered scientific calculator (TI-25X) for sundial
calculations.

ps. I will be staying at this location for some time. There is too much
stuff in the basement to move.
