Fellow Shadow Watchers,

While querying current magnetic variation at a UK location I was directed
to

The British Geological Survey Homepage which others might find useful.

http://www.geomag.bgs.ac.uk

Click on 'Navigation Models & Charts'
Click on 'Grid Magnetic Angle Calculator'

Insert correct references in the boxes:

'Grid East Value < ? > (0-700,000)
'Grid North value' < ? > (0-1,300,000)

and a recent figure for magnetic variation at that location is generated.

As Latitude and longitude are my preferred mode I last used OS map
references when doing A level geography with my classmate Prince Henry
the Navigator.....well.....it seems as long ago as that :-). Things now
are not as I seem to recall them.

'UK Streetmap' on the WWW returns the following values for a client's
location

OSX 35XXXX (blanked for confidentiallity)
OSY 67XXXX

Am I correct in thinking that:

OSX the 'Grid East Value' and
OSY the 'Grid North Value? in this context? O-)

Thanks in anticipation.
