D'oh!! You're right - I never thought about that, being the very reason we don't have hour lines on the dial in the first place... Except for a very short-lived design, elastic would fail pretty quickly, so I like your idea of weighted strings (or fine chains) through holes better. Dave 37.28N 121.97W -
