Thank you Fred for posting the sad news.   Ron will be missed and he has helped me personally on several occasions. He was also kind enough to invite me for coffee during my August trip to California.   I have always wondered about what might happen if any serious ill came to any of my online friends...people routinely collect and then disperse on the internet as their interests evolve over time. Over time I have lost contact with several people who have graciously helped me in the past, and have often thought of them and hoped that they were OK.   In this case, I am very sad but at least I know what happened.
