Hello Fabio,
Thanks for showing us your beautiful frog sundial. I love your
whimsical and ingenious designs. Please continue to create!
Best wishes,
Mac Oglesby
In these days I've completed a wooden prototype af an
italic-babilonic sundial
(<http://www.nonvedolora.it/english/rana_en.htm>http://www.nonvedolora
.it/english/rana_en.htm). I showed it on sunday during an
exihibition in my city (45° 34' N).
I've designed it last year and it has a frog outline. It is a polar
dial with a conical gnomon, but the cones are replaced by two
spheres inscripted in the cones.
In this sundial the hour lines and their numeric indexes are the
same for co-italic and babilonic hours. The eyes are two
semi-spheres (60 mm), the sundial indicates both the hours where the
lines are tangent to the shadows.
On the East side, the upper eye indicates hours from sunrise and the
lower eye indicates hours to sunset. Vice versa on the West side.
The frog is 54 cm (high) x 95 cm. (about 21 x 37 inches)
There some pictures in the web site above, soon I'll write the english text.
