My rule-of-thumb is: - use JPG for photos, i.e. all pictures with gradual changes in hue and brightness, - use GIF for schematic drawings, i.e. consisting of areas of constant hue/brightness. The reason is that this gives the smallest files. When in doubt, you can easily test for yourself: save a picture in both formats and pick the smallest result. Regards, Frans -
