The German Patent Office in Munchen is a building enclosing a square of about 70x40 meters. This square is a sundial, the innercorner of the roof of two wings gives the shadowmark on the ground.
The homepage of their website has a picture of the pattern: http://www.dpma.de/index.htm but I did not find any other pictures on their site. The best place to look at the sundial is from the topfloor! Thibaud Chabot

I am interested in finding out about the use of architecture/engineering elements acting as sundials, especially as regards bridge construction. I know that the architect Santiago Calatrava is designing a 'Sundial Bridge' in Redding, CA , with an inclined tower acting as a gnomon. Do you know of any other examples of this? Kind regards, Megan Paris -
