Although plentiful in mainland Europe, Roman dials appear to be as rare as hens' teeth in England, a country occupied by the legions for four hundred years. How many Roman dials are surviving in the UK?
But I write mainly to say that there is a good replica Roman dial at Arbeia, the Roman fort at the mouth of the River Tyne in north east England and to ask if anyone knows of any other modern replicas of classical dials in the UK. Or, indeed, elsewhere.
