Hello,

A huge sundial was made in september 1988 in the Mont Saint
Michel in France using the well known monument as a gnomon. With a
dimension of 1.1 km it was probably one of the largest ones but it only
lasted less than one month. For further information please read the issue of
L'Astronomie, march 1989, vol. 103 (in french). Another one was made
on the Place de la Concorde in Paris but it was never finished, the
obelisk was acting as the gnomon and a few hour lines are still visible
on the ground.
