Wonderful! Especially "Keeps flies off cows" and pigeons off balconies.

Who knows the equally unlikely history of Swarfega?

It was originally sold as a cleaner for silk stockings. Then, in World War
Two when machine-washable nylons came in and all silk was requisitioned to
make into parachutes, they cast around for a new market for the stuff and
retargetted it at engineers.
The company name Deb comes from the original target market - debutantes.
I still use it to keep my silk stockings like new.
