Ken,

A simple BASIC program for this purpose was written by William S. Maddux for
the December 1987 issue of Sky & Telescope, pages 646-648. He was an early
member of this mailing list, but sadly he passed away a few years ago. The
program is called DIAL.BAS, and the program code (but not the accompanying
article) is available for downloading from our website at
http://www.skyandtelescope.com/resources/software/3304911.html

Bill's program does not output angles, but instead the x or y value where each
hour line reaches the edge of a rectangular dial plate. (The idea was that it's
easier and more accurate to plot these lines with a ruler than with a
protractor.) It correctly allows for your local offset from the time-zone
meridian and for a vertical dial that faces either due south or some other
azimuth deviating from 180 degrees ("declination").

Hi Everyone,

I am working on another vertical declining dial with large declination
like the one shown on page 95 of Waugh's book. I am looking for a computer
program or spreadsheet that would give me the hour line angles from the
sub-style and from vertical like Table 10.4 on page 95.

I thought I had a program that did that but I cannot remember. Is there a
program that prints out those angles?

Thanks in advanced,

Ken Clark
