Ola Rogelio, Thanks for providing the background and the links. This is an excellent dial. Congratulations to you and your group for constructing this and the other dials in El Bierzo..
Like your group, I worked in the energy industry, as a chemical engineer in Alberta Oil Sands research but now I am retired, designing sundials and exploring our world. We share many interests. Can you give me the length of the major axis of the analemmatic sundial. It seems to be about 5 meters, a good size for a human gnomon. I would like to propose the addition of seasonal markers that work with the date line to tell you when and where the sun rises and sets through the year. In the web site www.bierzosol.com there are two images of the sundial (see "Relojes monumentales/ La Cruz de ferro"). I'm talking about. In this sundial there is a time ecuation graphic, draw clearly in order that it could be easy to anyone know the time (official time) always from true solar time. Nevertheless , is needed a little explanation for anyone can change solar time to official time. We thought to write the explicative texts in English, French , German and Spanish. The French text has been made by a well-know dialist of our neighbour country: M. Joel Robic. I have many photos and additional information about this analematic sundial Rogelio Meléndez ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Enviado desde Correo Yahoo!
