Folks, Alerted by Peter's message below, I have just bought an ex-Air Ministry Astro Compass MkII from eBay. I have wanted one of these for a while so thanks to Peter for posting about it. The instrument seems to be in pretty good condition but the LHA mechanism is stiff to turn and I am wondering about attempting to free it. Before I blunder in, I should be grateful for any advice on: - what lies inside the LHA mechanism - whether I can just apply some WD-40 and hope it finds its way to the critical parts - whether I could disassemble it with any hope of putting it back together
