Hi all,
I finished these days a new tool for Sundial Atlas: GnomoLab.
You can reach this new software from any sundial card, in the right column
you'll find the logo to click.
A window will show a satellite map centered to the coordinates of the sundial,
above the map a goniometer and a rotatable diameter will allow you to evaluete
the declination of a wall.
The main purpose of GnomoLab is to find the declination of the sundials. But
not all.
On the map there is a Sun, yellow if it is above the horizon, otherwise grey,
placed on its azimuthal line with a distance from the center proportional to
its altitude. The values of azimuth and altitude, with latitude, longitude,
local Sun time, UTC are shown in the right column. The values, and the Sun over
the map, are updated every second (It is possible to change UTC clicking on the
orange asterisk next to 'UTC').
In the right column you can also change the inclination of the dial.
After every change (coordinates, inclination or declination) you'll get
real-time the corrispondent dial with the hour lines and the substyle.
On this dial also run the shadow of a polar style, it is updated every second.
You can also choose between local Sun time or time-zone sun time with any
time-zone.
When the dial is black means it is not illuminated. It depends from the
orientation of the dial or if the Sun has set.
I will not bore you with long explanation, the better thing is to play with it.
GnomoLab is new, any suggestion, idea of development, reporting bug, is welcome.
ciao Fabio
PS GnomoLab is not a specific software to draw sundial, for this purpose you'll
find a link to the page where the authors upload the links to their software.
ciao Fabio
