We might be able to help better you if you give us a little more information. Will your stained glass sundial design require a polar axis style (a triangular sheet or angled rod) or a point-in-space style (also called a nodus)? What can't you attach the style to the window glass? There are several ways to do this. So, I plan to paint a sundial on the window frame using glass paint. The only problem is, I cannot actually mount the style to the window. So, I want to back check with you guys. what I am thinking about doing is, paint the dial as planned. Then, I'll make a paper style and use that to check my distance. I can mount two bars across the window 2-3 inches away from the window. I can attach the actual style to the bars. So, I can use the paper style to adjust the amount of material I need to leave off the bottom of the style to have the correct shadow. In effect, I am creating a floating style. What do you guys think. I wanted to check with folks who have done real stained glass and see if you think the floating style will work.
