After reading Tom's note, I watched for sundials in Downton Abbey. I found
three. I watched it on the PBS App on my iPad and I grabbed screenshots of all
three dials. Do we have a place to post photos? If not, just let me know if
anyone would like me to e-mail the screenshots to them.

The first one was a very old vertical dial above a south-facing window in the
churchyard / graveyard in the funeral scene. (I think was actually the final
episode of season one.) It is above the window that is below the large clock.
It is barely visible in this scene, but I figured it would be there when I saw
the age of the church and the huge clock that looks so out of place. I can see
it clearly when I expand the photo on the iPad.

The second one is an armillary sphere on a pedestal in front of the red-brick
cottage where Matthew and his mother are staying, apparently on the grounds of
Downton Abbey.

The third one I found was a beautiful vertical dial above the courtyard where
the wounded soldiers are rehabbing when Cybil arrives for nurse's training.

The second and third dials are probably the ones to which Tom was referring. I
would also love to hear if any of our BSS members have any further information
on these dials.

Thank you,
Maureen Salmi

PS - This show is available on Netflix streaming, on the PBS app, or on
PBS.org.
