For “Abbey” enthusiasts – I spotted another dial, on tonight’s show – it
was a a very quick shot that included a wall dial, on the church where the
Abbey staff was serving dinners to itinerant soldiers. It appeared to have a
rod gnomon and the dial face was not apparent….it’s hard to say for sure,
since it was visible only for a split second.

Dear Dialists,

The first show of second season of the “Downton Abbey” British TV drama
aired in the U.S. last Sunday. I spotted two dials at the “Abbey” – one a
magnificent wall dial, the other a more modest armillary sphere. According
to Wikipedia, the show is filmed at Highclere Castle in Hampshire
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downton_Abbey. Perhaps our BSS friends can tell
us more about the featured dials! The scenes in which I spotted the dials
seemed to take care to give them visibility. I didn’t watch the show last
year, and don’t know if this was previously discussed.
