For Abbey enthusiasts I spotted another dial, on tonights show it was a a very quick shot that included a wall dial, on the church where the Abbey staff was serving dinners to itinerant soldiers. It appeared to have a rod gnomon and the dial face was not apparent .its hard to say for sure, since it was visible only for a split second.

I spotted two dials at the Abbey one a magnificent wall dial, the other a more modest armillary sphere. According to Wikipedia, the show is filmed at Highclere Castle in Hampshire http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downton_Abbey. Perhaps our BSS friends can tell us more about the featured dials! The scenes in which I spotted the dials seemed to take care to give them visibility. I didnt watch the show last year, and dont know if this was previously discussed. Tom Kreyche
