Aleksandr Boldyrev wrote this fascinating article about ENGLISH SUNDIALMAKERS IN RUSSIA in the BSS bulletin, 2006, v18, p 104 (see http://www.boldyrevsundials.com/bss1.pdf ) and perhaps he may be able to shed light in the TANGET dial.
I looked at Sara Schechner's photos and managed to decipher most of the locations and latitudes. St. Petersburg 59 deg. 56 min. Moscow 55 deg 45 min Riga 56 deg 56 min Narva 59 deg 23 min Orenburg 51 deg 46 min Olonets 60 deg 53 min Reval 59 deg ?? (Talinn?) Taganrog 47 deg 12 min Toboleski 58 deg 12 min Archangel 64 deg 35 min Kazan 55 min 17 min Orsk 51 deg 12 min. It seems that most of the locations relate to the 18th century Russian expansion from the Baltic to the Crimea and the Urals ? Best regards, Phil Walker Newport, Shropshire, UK 52 deg 45 min N. 2 deg 22 min W.
