Dear Helmut, It is good to have your confirmation that the EoT changed sign on 15 April 1707. John Davis made me nervous!
Of course, this wasn't 15 April here in England, and the only outstanding worry is that Basel was still on the Julian Calendar. I know that different parts of Switzerland changed in different years but I think Basel was safely on the Gregorian Calendar before 1707. It must have been very awkward running a country where different parts used different calendars!
