Dear Rolf and Francesco, Thank you both for your very full and helpful responses - two different approaches with the same conclusion. I asked the question because I sometimes get queries from owners who have inherited or discovered re-located verticals, and want to know whether, to what extent, and in what way, they can still be used to indicate the time. Your results now allow me to give them much better advice, and based on calculation, not just my instinct!
