[...] The instruction at pix_encode()+390 is a 'cmovl', which is a relatively recent addition (it came in with the Pentium Pro) to the x86 instruction set. What kind of processor is on this mini-ITX board? I bet it doesn't understand that instruction.

Aha--that sounds right since all Mini- and Nano-ITX boards use VIA's own low-power CPUs. VIA also bought Cyrix a while back, and the CPU on this board is a C3.

The datasheets for the C3 are available at..
http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/processors/c3/

.. and the specs on my particular EPIA motherboard ..

Unless there's a bugin the compiler (that's unlikely) we're probably compiling the Sun Ray DDX with options that allow the compiler to generate instructions that are too modern for this CPU. I'll have to go figure out whether this is intentional. It feels like a bug to me, if Solaris 10 is happy on this hardware then SRSS should be happy to run there too.

Thanks muchly Granted, Mini-ITX hardware doesn't really line up with Sun's focus, so I wouldn't expect such nimble hardware to ever be officially supported. But it's quiet stuff, compact and very power-efficient, which are all characteristics I use to pitch SunRays in the first place.

Cheers,
Derek
