Marcus,
There are several factors that effect Sun Ray scaling and performance, here
are a few:

-use a dedicated interconnect for DTU's
-disable all screen savers
-Limit audio and video streaming
-use quota's on users to limit resources
-don't install a video card in the server
-keep storage on the server, to take advantage of the backplane
-limit USB mass storage, use media servers as an alternative

The 440 is a great box and has no problems running 100 users. On the 3-1
ratio with 100 DTU's, are you saying that you would have 300 users with
smart cards, and 200 sessions inactive? The best configuration would be to
run more than 1 server with failover. On My first implementation, I had a
220 running NFS for home directories and four E420R for 300 users.

The 210's may scale to 50 users, but I would go with a higher availability
box like a V240 that has dual power supplies and more storage capacity. And
once again I would use two servers if possible.

My largest configuration is a single 4800 supporting 500 users. On the 4800
I have all my eggs in one basket, because of how it is used, I don't have
any failover.

I have three 490's supporting 275 users across two Vlans running Rdesktop in
CAM mode.

Currently I am installing Seven V240's in 7 buildings with session mobility
and each providing failover. This network will scale to about 200 users when
completed.

Hope that helps.

Dave
