Hi Leigh

There are no special implications with regards to licensing. You'd still buy a per seat SRSS licence.

I'm working on a similar project at the moment for remotely located schools. The key thing is to make the setup as redundant and simple as possible so that non IT people can look after it. It should still be easier than managing lots of remote PCs however!

If it's for an education project, get in touch with the local Sun office and find out the name of the education sales manager. There are various schemes and discount levels for edu.

Hello,

I am thinking of using SunRays for a deployment in a school in Receife, Brazil that aims to teach vital skills to street children and adults as well as support existing students. I expect to deploy around 8 SunRay clients to start with which will maybe reach upto 20 later on, not many really. The software used will be OpenOffice and other free tools.

The SunRays I admin have been perfectly stable, I have to wonder if it'll all be OK at a remote place in Brazil which will most likely not have any Internet connectivity (so all troubleshooting will be over the phone!).

What is Sun's postition on licensing for for these kinds of activities? They have not got any money and I am funding this project myself.

Does anybody else have any advice for such a deployment?

Thanks everybody,
