the LOCALE variables are set in

/etc/default/init

its the Variable LC_MESSAGES that desides the presentation language.

LC_CTYPE governs which characters are printable.

Read
" man   setlocale "
" man ctype"
" man locale"
"man isprint"

//Lars

Hi Lars,

Maybe you are  missing:

LC_CTYPE=de_DE.ISO8859-15

Some apps like Staroffice seems to work regardless,
but if an application uses the ctype(3c) subroutines to decide which
characters ar printable you need to set the correct locale.

Where would I set this local? I guess I get the same if I choose german as the language in dtlogin. However, then I also get all the GNOME titles in german which is very confusing for us. We are used to the english terms and would leike to keep the interface english. We jst want the GNOME apps to accepts the german keyboard.

Thanks a lot!

Regards,

  Andreas
