If you are setting up LDAP server on Linux, it means ou are not using SUN Directory Server, in that case ldapclient client is useless because it tryes to connect to a server that is runing SUN directory server. If ,however, you are using SUN directory Server use #ldapclient -v -a <profilename> init <Ldapservername>
