Hello Jimmy,
I don't quite understand this.
Where do you capture and resend?
I was also wondering why the fragment and defragmentation done by the
vpn routers is not working in the case of the Sunray.
Are these defragmented package dicarded by the Sunray?

I do this in my router. I capture the packet and resend it with the disired MTU
setting. This way the local network is defaulted to the SRS set MTU and the
intranet users get their special setting.

Using Stop-M isn't a very scalable solution.
It needs manual labor which I don't like
Can I set the mtu size in the firmware binary / parms file that
gets downloaded from the /tftpboot directory?
No, you cannot. Current implementation doesn't under stand the mtu
option in .parms file.
I guess it is easy to extend the current implementation to support
getting MTU from .parms file.

This would make it a global setting.

No it's done the the firmware. If you've ever used a tadpole
comet their is a keystroke to get into the FW menu, Stop-M.
Same thing. You can password protect this as well.

Thanks, I get right on it!!
Is this done from the sim card?

No global setting. However via your Sun rep, you can sign a
PRLA (Pre Release License Agreement) that will give you early
access to firmware that will allow you to set the MTU in the
firmware, just as you can with a Tadpole Comet. Have your Sun
rep contact the folks Sun Ray Marketing.

Hello,
Can anyone help us with the following case?
We have sunrays behind a vpn.
In order to get acceptable performance we need to set the mtu
size to something lower than 1500.
This can be done with dhcp option 26 on the dhcp server which
provides the sunray with an ip number.
But in some cases we have to use a dhcp server which we don't
control or the dhcp server on location does not have an
interface to set this option. We were wondering if we could
inform the sunray server directly about the mtu size it
should use.
If the sunray is able to inform the sunray server about the
correct mtu size it should use, it might also be possible to
inform the server from another source. Does such a way
exists? Or is there a global setting we can use?
Help would be appreciated a lot.
Thanks,
Ivar
