I would think, with the low power consumption, stateless terminal, and smart-card authentication, the military would be using sunrays in deployable enviroments. Put up the tent, power up the servers, and run cat-5 or fiber to each soldier's workstation. With trusted solaris, I would think this would be a dream come true for the deployable datacenter. Can the new sunrays be powered by power-over-ethernet?

As a Sun Ray advocate, I also would like to know why these things are 60%
of the cost of a full computer.
On the other hand, I purchased two Sun Ray 1 units off of eBay for CDN$70
delivered.
